This War of Mine
The Sentinel Marshals are the smallest and most specialized arm of the sprawling military forces of House Deneith. During the Age of Galifar, the Sentinel Marshals served as the King’s right hand, enforcing the laws of the kingdom and hunting down the enemies of the crown wherever they might be.
The fall of Galifar during the Last War put the existence of the Sentinel Marshals to doubt, but though the Treaty of Thronehold dissolved the Kingdom of Galifar, the Sentinel Marshals remained. In the modern, post-war Khorvaire, the Sentinel Marshals are organized as a multinational law enforcement agency, authorized by the signatories of the Treaty to enforce law and bring justice according to the needs of regional authorities. In recognition of their neutrality and their international reach, the Sentinel Marshals have been granted the authority to ignore national borders in pursuit of fugitives.
No mere town watchmen, the Marshals focus their efforts on crimes of an international nature, especially in situations where jurisdiction is a thorny issue. Marshals are granted broad authority in the pursuit of justice, however they define it, but that leeway is balanced by the need to maintain the Marshals’ reputation for absolute impartiality and integrity. This emphasis on justice and honor has occasionally led to clashes with House Deneith’s other major arms, the Blademark’s Guild and the Defender’s Guild, to whom the law of the land is not half as important as the law of the contract.
